A South Africa native, Chef Alex Olivier grew up in the small historical town of Vryheid, where his curiosity for food started as a child. Chef Alex’s culinary talents are reflected in his unique dishes, where he marries diverse world flavors and dishes with local ingredients. Area 31’s menu showcases the restaurant’s dedication to sustainable seafood with worldy flavors from his travels and South American and local flavors found in Miami’s culinary and cultural melting pot. "I like to introduce people to exotic flavors – ingredients from my South African upbringing, as well flavors from my travels. Food and travel are my two passions and I want guests to taste this in my food."
